Lotería is a fun game and a great way to learn a little Spanish.
This iconic Mexican game is very similar to bingo, but instead of numbers,
playing cards consist of 16 (out of 54 possible) pictograms.

Great idea!
The first will be this coming Thursday, August. 08 at 7 p.m.
"Mexican bingo" or loteria is played a lot like regular bingo.
The difference is that instead of numbers being drawn,
cards are pulled from a deck.
The cards look a lot like tarots. They too have characters and images
like El Corzaon, El Tambor and La Sirena.
According to Wikipedia, the loteria game originated in Italy in the 1400s.
Then it was brought to Spain and, later, the New World.
I played my first game of loteria at a Church Fundraiser.
I'm glad to see loteria is finding a new place in our nightlife.
